PCOS and infertility

How Are PCOS and Infertility Associated with Each Other?

Introduction
PCOS and infertility are two conditions that keep a female from reproducing. PCOS, or otherwise known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, is a condition in which the body of a woman produces androgens at a higher rate than normal. The over production of these androgens causes a woman's ovaries to stop functioning and therefore, can stop women's fertility altogether. This is what brings PCOS and infertility together. Most doctors are not correctly and completely informed regarding PCOS and infertility and should not assist someone who has questions about it. A specialist will need to be consulted. Educate yourself on the condition because this will help you find proper care and treatment.

Even with the great strides in medicine that have been achieved in recent years, many are still in the dark about the relationship between PCOS and infertility. Sadly, PCOS and infertility share a union that has a negative effect on the women who suffer from these conditions.

Widely considered the leading cause of infertility by many in the medical profession, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a troubling condition that affects many women the world over.

So What Exactly Is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

And for that matter, what is the relationship between PCOS and infertility?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the condition where a woman's body is producing androgens at a rate higher than what is normal. These androgens are generally considered male hormones and when in the female body, they are normally converted to estrogen.

In the situation of an over production of these androgens, a change occurs in the female body.

The over production of the androgen causes a woman's ovaries to stop functioning properly and in some cases, they stop functioning completely.

This is the relationship between PCOS and infertility.

What Causes PCOS and Infertility?

So what are the root origins between PCOS and the relationship between PCOS and infertility?

Unfortunately, the medical community is still in the dark regarding this issue. There is no one cause that has been pinpointed as the cause of a PCOS condition and the subsequent fusion of PCOS and infertility. While genetic factors cannot be one hundred percent proven, it would be foolish to completely rule the theory out.

Treatment

What should one do if one seeks treatment for PCOS and infertility? It goes without saying that one should seek out the care of a trusted, established health care professional. Be aware that it is widely suggested to seek treatment from a doctor who is a specialist. Many doctors are not up to date on PCOS and the relationship between PCOS and infertility.
